Aaron Hartesveldt
Director of Golf
Aaron has been a PGA member since 2010 and actively teaching the game since 2005. He has made stops as a Director of Golf or Head Golf professional at a couple of different facilities in his career, leading him here to Poppy Hills. He enjoys teaching the game and especially getting and keeping people involved in golf. Learning to play the game better makes it more fun, and at the end of the day, that's why Aaron believes most of us are out here!
Jesse Plaza
Jesse Plaza
Assistant Golf Professional
Jesse likes to make golf simple. There is more than one way to play golf, and the smallest changes can be made to make the biggest improvement. As the club fitting specialist at Poppy Hills, Jesse uses launch monitor technology to find the best equipment customized for your swing. Whether you want a lesson or to test the latest clubs, Jesse can help you develop a simple plan to improve your game.
Derek Hahn
Derek Hahn
Assistant Golf Professional
Derek started golfing later than most in high school, but fell in love with it immediately. He spent every summer endlessly practicing and that hard work led to Derek playing collegiate golf at California Lutheran University. While attending, his passion for golf grew and he started working at Poppy Hills shortly after in 2024, became a PGA Associate in 2025, and will soon be applying for Class A membership. He loves learning more about the game of golf while also keeping it as simple as possible.
Eli Obstfeld
Eli Obstfeld
Assistant Golf Professional
Mostly self-taught, Eli spent countless hours on the range honing a versatile swing and learning how to compete. He later earned a degree in psychology and focused his work on counseling young adults, an experience that continues to shape his coaching approach. After rediscovering golf, Eli committed to the sport professionally, gaining six years of experience working with players from Palm Desert to Whidbey Island, Washington. His goal is simple: to help golfers enjoy the game more—whether that means shooting lower scores or building a stronger, more resilient mindset.
